And in other health sector news, reliable reports says that Central Medical Lab has run out of re-agents. It's not a particularly new situation, but it is a dire one since re-agents are used to screen blood that is donated. That means, without re-agents, patients who need surgery or victims of car accidents and gunshots, may not be able to get the blood they need to survive. According to a letter written by a senior medical technologist to Deputy DHS, Dr Francis Morey, the CML is out of Chagas, CMV, and Hepatitis B Core re-agents, and they're not expected to get more until the first week of April. The technologist adds that the current blood stock will only last about a week - granted that there are no mass casualty events. Until the new stock comes in April, however, a firm in Guatemala has agreed to send a few kits, but it won't arrive until mid-next week.
