And going north now, there were protests at the Northern Regional Hospital as well as the Corozal Community Hospital.

In the case of the latter, the nurses there are dealing with the same set of issues - no resources and not enough pay.

One of the workers spoke with "Informa T Corozal" outside the hospital.

Voice of: Nurse
"We nurses here are demonstrating, because we are frustrated. Accordingly, we were given 10% back, but it seems that it has been more than 10% this month. Our overtime - everything they are changing the formula. It seems like we are working for working sake and not working the hours that we are putting on the paper. They are changing it every time and every time it comes back, it is not calculated well. So, they change the formula, every month is the same stress. Formulas and formulas like we are stealing the hours. Nurses work physically. They come to the hospital physically, its not like we are just punching in like maybe other people do and they think that nurses are doing it. Nurses are not doing it. Nurses come and work for their money."

"We are working for our money, we have worked through the pandemic, now accordingly time are better, but it doesn't seem so. We are short of medications. Patients come to the emergency department, we have no analgesic, we have to send patients to buy their medications privately, because we have none. Right now, simple tape we don't have - we have none. Personally, I buy my own tape so that I can use it on my patients, plus salary is short, overtime not being paid. We really are getting frustrated and this move is a passive to show the government that we are not satisfy with our salary, with our overtime - we are understaff. Times are not good."
