The Minister notes that while they have been making strides in fire response and readiness, one lacking area has been ambulance services for road traffic accidents and freak occurrences. Minister Habet says that they have been working to find a way to sustain this new ambulance service:

Orlando Habet, Minister of Disaster Risk Management

"We have done a great effort, and also piloting a ambulance service in the Cayo district where we all already have six ambulances in San Ignacio, Benque, Santa Elena, Belmopan, and it has been working really well because as we know the ambulance service through the ministry of health will only transport a patient from one hospital to the next, but if there is a road accident nobody there is no ambulance so we provide that service currently and there has been a great success. What we have to do now is to make it sustainable, because who will pay for it? Who will replenish the tires when they are worn out? Servicing of the engines, the fuel and everything else but luckily the fire act gives us the opportunity to be able to work along with the insurance companies, for example, in a traffic accident where we can get the information for the insurance and the licensing from that vehicle so that we can get at least initially that no fault insurance portion.com afford to pay some of the cost for the transportation through the ambulance service."
