Today's Cabinet brief was typically unremarkable - except for one eyebrow raising bullet item.
It says, quote, "Cabinet is closely monitoring the matter concerning the accusation of rape against a prominent attorney. The seriousness of such allegations demands a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served."
It's odd because the executive of the country doesn't normally announce that it is monitoring criminal investigations led by the police and the DPP. Second, there are a great many allegations of rape - and there's no stated Cabinet concern about those - so we have to assume that their interest in this one is primarily political and the concern for the alleged victims is secondary, at best.
