Measles Outbreak Contained After 34 Cases

In a more favourable metric, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has announced that it has contained the measles outbreak which began in early April 2025. In a release they noted, quote, "Belize has recorded no new measles cases for more than two full incubation periods, showing effective containment of the recent outbreak." End quote. The outbreak was linked to international travel to Mexico and affected 34 unvaccinated individuals in the Corozal and Cayo Districts. There was one hospitalization but no reported deaths.
