Back in June, 7News asked the Minister of Home Affairs why a retired senior cop was given a $70k contract to be a special advisor to his CEO. It caused a stir in the public since Minister Musa's explanation was basically that his CEO, Sharole Saldivar, came from an "administrative" background and not a policing one. Afterwards, he clarified that Guzman's expertise allows him to be an advisor for the entire ministry, and even stated that it was the recommendation of the former ComPol, though Williams did not confirm that.
But while the backlash quickly dissipated, Guzman is still on contract. And tonight we have a look at it. Courtney Menzies has this story.
Musa has said that the contract won't be renewed when it expires in February of next year.
