Fonseca says they have also looked at the possibility of recruiting Filipino nurses to fill the staffing gaps in the hospitals.

"Again, Ministry of Health is looking, they are looking at options even you know putting aside the cuban issue we need nurses even with the Cubans who are here in Belize. We still have a shortage of nurses so we have been looking at options the ministry of health has been looking at various options including as you mentioned, one: nurses from the Philippines, also nurses from Nicaragua. Those are options they are looking at."
