He has been missing for 12 years but tonight a Honduran family has hope that their father and brother is alive and living in Belize. Leonel Tosta was lost at sea in January of 1993 when the boat he and two friends were fishing in capsized in the seas off the Honduran coast. His two friends made it back but Leonel hasn't been seen or heard of since. That was until last week when a man in Belmopan told someone that his name is Leonel Tosta. That gave his family fresh hope and his brother and son have traveled to Belize to find their long lost relative. They told us their story.
Guillermo Tosta, Missing Man's Brother
"We were thinking he was already dead but we have new information and we never lost that we were going to find him alive. Several people in Belmopan say he looks familiar but we explain he probably looks different now because now he is 62 and when he got lost he was 50 years old. And you know that since he is in the streets, he must be skinny because he probably doesn't always find food and he probably sleeps anywhere and he might have even lost his teeth because 12 years without cleaning. He lost his memory but he gave the name three times to that woman from Honduras so we want to know if he is alive in Belmopan or in Belize City."
Keith Swift,
Why is this important to the family, 12 years later?
Guillermo Tosta,
"Its important because he is my brother and he has two children in Honduras and everybody in the family would be so happy."
Leonel Tosta would be 62 years old. Anyone with information can contact the nearest police station or the family at 66-5251 or 602-3735.
