Belmopan residents can sleep easier tonight knowing that they have a new and improved fire station in their area. This building was handed over to the National Fire Service of Belize by the US Embassy in partnership with the US Southern Command Humanitarian Assistance. The state-of-the-art building is valued at 1.7 million Belize Dollars.
The new station houses a garage space, sleeping quarters, a kitchen facility, a training room, and management offices. The donation also includes a backup generator and filling stations for water tanks.
This handover is the culmination of three years of collaboration between the U.S. Southern Command, the Louisiana National Guard Corps, and the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management.
