The Ceremonial Opening of the Supreme Court, It's a staple of the first month of the year - but, for the past two years, that event has gone virtual. And, even though the COVID threat has receded, the new tradition carried on this year - of course it would, because the courts - with its virtual hearings and closed courtrooms - seem to like those COVID norms just fine.
So, today for the first opening of what are now called The Senior Courts - the presentation was virtual - and the events, including Chief Justice of the Senior Courts Louise Blenman's inspection of the Guard of Honor was recorded last week. It makes for a staid and perfunctory version of an event that was already low in entertainment value.
