"In relation to the shortages of electricity, how much would you gauge the hotels and saw businesses were impacted on San Pedro and Caye Caulker, which are two areas you represent? Did you have people complaining to you about this?"
Andre Perez, Blue Economy Minister
"Complaining is just a very soft word to do it, but people were very upset, not only tourists, but businesses, restaurants, hotels, the load shedding has been terrible. And I think in one case, a couple of weeks ago, we had 14 hours nonstop that we went, it was brutal."

"And actually, many things happened, not only the tourism, the loss of tourism, but many people getting sick, Salmonella is all alone right now, food contamination. So we have taken our fair share."
"So we are saying that we do have right now in the middle of a crisis with energy. And I will say it, and I won't minced my words, this is a result of a company that supplies electricity that is trying to play catch up in terms of infrastructure."
"A big part of this is that the Belize Electricity Limited has not done their part in terms of infrastructure."
