The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government officially handed over an essential supply of water system expansion materials and power infrastructure to San Estevan Village in the Orange Walk District. The materials include high-grade piping to expand the distribution network to more households and a heavy-duty diesel generator as a back up during power fluctuations. Here are the highlights from that handing over ceremony today.
John Briceno, Prime Minister

"This team has been a transformative team actually with the work they have been doing and just a few weeks ago they also presented for the first time ever a national strategy for rural transformation to show you how is it that we are going to move the lives of our people how we are going to make it better and I remember Mr Price explained it so easily he said there are 5 basic things that every citizen must have access to land, water to electricity and to a job and also to education and now we have gone even beyond that because we believe you also have to have as sense of security."

Valentino Shal, CEO Ministry of Rural Transformation
"This is just a small portion but there would be more materials so every single home in San Estevan must be connected to the system not because we want to collect more fees but because everybody should have access to this very basic resource, running water in their home. You know where else have running water today? Graham creek the last village in this country you cannot reach by road so the people when we gave them their pipes last week the chair lady, its a lady running that village way to the end near the border with Guatemala on the Sarstoon."
Marcos Osorio, Chairperson, San Estevan

"This is the third time we have ceremony like this and we know we will continue having more ceremonies and I challenge you Mr Charles for a 4th ceremony later this year for better things."
