She emerged as a workers' rights champion and full out firebrand during the civil unrest of early this year. And now, unconfirmed reports say that Zenaida Moya will offer herself as a mayoral candidate for the UDP in the City Council election which is slated for March of next year.

It's a huge recruitment for the UDP because Moya, a member of the PSU executive, has earned independent credentials as an unflinching critic of the Musa administration. But it's hardly a done deal because she enters a mayoral convention swirling with intrigues as there are at least 5 persons vying for the seat.

Still, reports to 7NEWS are that Moya may have the backing of the party higher-ups as party whip and consummate strategist Michael Finnegan is rumored to be her campaign manager. And while the story continues to generate plenty political buzz, it's far from official as Moya continues to be employed as an economist with the Ministry of Economic Development.
