And after that deadline expires, if the union chooses to protest, will the UDP join in? Today, party leader Dean Barrow said the firing of Christine Perriot is primarily a union matter, and one on which his party is eager to support, but not to lead.

Jules Vasquez,
Do you think in two weeks time we will see ruction out here as we did in 2005?

Hon. Dean Barrow, UDP Leader
"That's hard to predict."

Jules Vasquez,
Will your party mobilize?

Hon. Dean Barrow,
"That decision hasn't been made yet. What I will say is that when the unions had a demonstration a couple of weeks ago, there were mixed signals. One union leader, in fact pretty much expressly said that he didn't want the overt participation of the UDP. That union leader I noticed was on Wave Radio this morning and I suspect that the dynamics have changed.

If there is a decision now, on the part of the unions, it is their show, but if there is a decision on the part of the unions that they want to call another demonstration and that they are happy to invite he UDP to participate in full measure, we will respond positively to that invitation.

But I need to find that out from them and I need to see whether there is a way we can do this thing jointly, whether we can consult and whether we can collaborate and I will actively be seeking them out to try and put some kind of a coalition leadership together for this particular issue."
