So, while Stirm and Wade are calling for the collective might of the resistance to the Equal Ops Bill to unify, an organization called Right Insights, says that it has conducted a public opinion poll in 3 districts. They say that according to their sampling of public opinion, the results are suggesting that a large number of Belizeans are far more tolerant of divergent views and lifestyles that they don't practice themselves.

Dr. Minera Pinelo, the leader of an online campaign called Live and Let Live, says that out of 600 participants in the 3 districts, quote, "A majority of respondents support legislation that prohibits discrimination in employment and public spaces on the basis of sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity." End quote.

This is one of the findings of the poll. This evening, we got a chance to speak via teleconference with Pinelo about it:

If you would like to view the complete poll, you can find it on the website, www.liveandletlive.bz.

The polls was conducted by Borge Y Asociados - a Central American research and social science agency with over 25 years experience in the region.
