So, and while UDP Leader is criticizing his PUP counterpart for failing to rein in his Orange Walk Central supporters today, we asked Briceno whether the PUP's COVID safety protocols will be active on Election Day.
After all, he says his supporters thronged him of their own free will today and the best his campaign team could do was to encourage them to observe quarantine laws.
But, if the party leader couldn't contain his supporters' zeal on Nomination Day, what will they do when the stakes are higher on election day? Here's that conversation with Briceno:
Hon. John Briceno - Leader, People's United Party "What we have been doing, and we've been telling our campaigners to tell everybody, that they can come out to vote, and they're going to be able to safely. There are not going to be huge crowds out there. Nobody is going to be aggressing them when they come to vote. We're going make sure we sanitize before a voter comes in, sanitize their hands, when the come back, sanitize it for them to come in. We want to make the voters feel safe. And, in some instance, we're going to have face shields for those that really feel that they need that face shield for them to come and vote safely. This is democracy. We need to do everything to protect our democracy, but we have to do it safely because of COVID."
Reporter "Sir, coming on to election day, you've seen that no matter how you try to discourage your supporters, they will form these entourage around you when you all are in public spaces. How will you control that, come election day?"
Hon. John Briceno "We will do our very best, and we're going to be asking people over and over, please be responsible."
