Ambassador Gutierrez today responded to these allegations, saying that it is nothing but political mischief. He told us today that he has no idea why he was pinpointed in this latest scandal because he doesn't even own the land that Jorge Espat is talking about.

This was many moons ago, clearly predates the current government, so no, I don't own any fifty acres of land. The land that I do own was acquired from the Chable's many years ago. It's mischief, and I won't go any further."
