But one man who is involved is whistleblower Eddie De La Rosa. For years, this former chairman of Buena Vista Village was a part of the Montero Machine. But, he left in disgust some years ago and is now living abroad.
He has exposed details of a land fraud scheme that he was familiar with and says he wants Montero to face charges:

"He should be one of the first person on which we should bruk record to show the upcoming politician, the younger generation that politics should be done differently in Belize."
"And he need to face the judge, he need to answer to a judge, he need to apologise to the Cayo Central people, to everyone that he have damaged."
"I have exposed the man to the Belizean authority so far, and I'm in process to the US authority, I just want justice to prevail. If I die tonight, you know, some people might remember me to be a whistleblower, but some people will always remember me for saying the truth."
We spoke to De La Rosa last night via zoom.
