And, the UDP is now expected to enter another of infighting instability and general turmoil, characterized by attacks on a wounded leader - one who many say is unfit - and should step aside.

But, earlier you heard Faber tell the press that he is a fighter and he isn't going anywhere.

But today he had to go to court - after he was declared a fugitive yesterday by the commissioner of police when police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Today he said all that was unnecessary:

Patrick Faber, Leader of the Opposition
"I want to make very clear that at no point was I in hiding and that's what bothers me that all of these untruth can be brought out. I have never received any kind of indication from the law that they were seeking me at all. In fact, the commissioner himself has my cell number, my WhatsApp number and frequently messages me, especially on holidays to give good greetings. So I don't see how he could say or anybody from the police force was trying to locate me and couldn't locate me and they have all these sirens going off around the country saying that I am at large. So that is utterly false."

Richard Bradley, Attorney
"His arrest and the proffering of charges against him was unnecessary and we challenge you to request of whoever is the high command of the police to say which law prevents the police from having received a complaint and the complainant then turns around and says I don't - In fact I understand in the statement there no formal request for police action, but the complainant is saying publicly, me and my fiancee is going to work out our differences. Why arrests a person. This is not an ordinary citizen, this is the leader of the opposition, the constitution provides for that position and nobody is asking any favours. He is not asking to cut any slack for him, but the complainant has gone and withdrawn her complaint. Why arrest him?"
