New UDP Party Leader is rewarding his loyalists with positions in the upper chamber of the House of Representatives.
As first reported earlier this week on Uncut, Beverly Williams and Tony Herrera have been appointed to the Senate. Williams is a former Belize Rural Central Representative who ran and lost in 2020, while Herrera ran and lost in Corozal Southeast.
And while it may look like Barrow is rewarding rejected candidates, a release from his office says it's about "diversity and regional inclusion".
Barrow adds, quote, "since serving as Leader of the Opposition I have appointed Senators from the South, West, Rural and Northern regions as well as 3 women."
They replace Darrell Bradley and Sheena Pitts in the Senate. But, there's still a place for those two. His release says Bradley will Serve as Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade as well as Chair of Special Committees on the Central Executive, while Pitts will serve as Shadow Attorney General and Chair of Policy and Planning on the Central Executive.
