And, we also asked the Prime Minister about another pending multi million dollar lawsuit confronting the government. That's the one we told you about last night, from Medigen and Pharmacy Express - companies owned by Julius and Angela Zabaneh.
They are demanding payment of over 1.6 million dollars for pharmacy supplies delivered to government but not paid for, and for what they call an illegal search and seizure operation at their drug stores in the tourism village.
For its part - government says it didn't pay for the pharmaceutical products because they were not up to standard.
But, Medigen's attorney Godfrey Smith has written to the Prime Minister urging him to pay up and avoid a costly court case - which, he suggests, government is likely to lose.
It's another costly legal entanglement for the Briceno administration, and for taxpayers - but today the PM played it off, as just a matter of course:
Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister Of Belize

"Pharmacy express is suing the government. That is yet another lawsuit for unlawful search and seizure and not honoring their pharmaceutical tender agreement. What is the process. Where is the process at with that. Well, it just started and it is their, every citizen has a right now we have become a very litigious society in Belize. You know for everything we go to court it's not necessarily a bad thing better we go to court and no go take out a gun and try to go after one another so it's something that is supported and it is their right if they believe that they have been wronged by the government or by anybody. Everybody, every single citizen of this country should have a right to have access to the courts of Belize."
Government has until September 26th to answer Medigen's attorney.
