And while Saldivar did not succeed Barrow as leader, the man who did, Patrick Faber is now on the outside looking in. As we have reported he has been replaced as the candidate for the Collett constituency - where he continues to be the Area Representative.

Even so, Barrow says he doesn't think it's the end for Faber in the UDP:

Dean Barrow, Former UDP Leader
"While it appears that ship has sailed in terms of candidacy, never say never. We've had, historical as you know, a situation not over foolishness, over a serious policy issue of patriotism maritime areas and Philip Goldson, Derrick - and Hubert Elrington and these people left. When the time came to contest an election, there was an alliance formed and Faber is not, as I understand it, expelled from the UDP, he is just not a candidate for Collet. Perhaps, when the general elections come, some kind of arrangement might be broken, so I am saying that I don't think we have seen the last of Patrick Faber as a candidate. We sure as hell know that we have not seen the last of him as somebody who will continue to give the UDP hell which is regrettable. But it takes two to quarrel and again, I want to try to hold the balance as even as possible and not deplore the behavior of either side."

And the man on the other side of Faber is the current UDP Leader, Shyne Barrow. The elder Barrow says he hopes both side can relent form the hostilities and unite for the country's good:

Dean Barrow, Former UDP Leader
"There will never be complete unity, by my God, this kind of shambolic situation in which there seems to be this unending conflict, this state of a warfare cannot be good for the party but more importantly it cannot be good for the country. I hope to God that some way will be found for some kind of co-existence to develop between the warring sides."
