But the perception that haunts Saldivar is far more profound - and it is the perception of corruption. He again stressed that neither the US nor anyone else has facts to back this up - just unproven accusations:

John Saldivar
"Now there is a report in one of the US thing that I facilitated for bribery for him to get his nationality, when I was not even the minister when the auditor general had clearly said that nationality was signed by a particular minister, not John Saldivar. But you see they are adding tail and foot and all kinds of things, because Johnny is the whipping boy."

Host
"But remember as minister of national and you are also receiving campaign money. They are tied."

John Saldivar
"There has to be a quid pro quo, boy John, I will give you this, please check on this."

Host
"The fact that you received money is running parallel to the favours, 1) picking up the telephone..."

John Saldivar
"Not the favour, that one incident."

Host
"But admit running parallel to these interactions with Lev Dermen is the receival of money which by the way - because it either come under campaign [financing] or for use of the public fund is undocumented within the system."

John Saldivar
"I cannot agree that one relates to the other, but I can accept and we can conclude there that I can accept that there are people who think that way. I can tell you that when I speak to people out there who are grateful for the things that I have done. They don't see it that way and the only way to tell if you are the majority or if they are the majority is by going to a vote."
