As we have been reporting, Belmopan hopeful John Saldivar is fighting mightily to keep his political hopes alive. He's triggered an emergency meeting of the UDP National Party Council in 10 days time - and he today launched what we can only guess is a kind of Garden City charm offensive when he appeared on hometown station PLUS TV.
Now, two years ago -we would have never thought we'd ever see Saldivar sitting down with Luis Wade - who he once viewed as a bitter opponent.
But, today, projecting contrition and battling a negative perception, Saldivar sat with Wade and his co hosts on his Rise and Shine morning show. And he spoke a little about his leader Shyne Barrow - making it clear that the Caucus for Change which he leads - never let the perception of Shyne Barrow affect its support for him:
John Saldivar

"We made a conscious decision not to let the perception of Shyne Barrow rule our decision. There were people who felt that because of his past, because of his connection to his father and the legacy that some people thought that his father left that he was not the person for us to pick as leader. We in the caucus for change did not allow that perception to guide us. The reason he is the party leader today is because the caucus for change did not fall for the perception. Yet my party today is being ask to fall for the perception."
