Close to an acre of land in Carmelita Village that had been reserved as a green space is now in the hands of its area rep, Kevin Bernard. Reliable reports tell us that the title for the property is in his name, and he has since fenced off the lot. Critics - especially those in the opposition - say that this is a land grab of what should have been public property.
The UDP standard bearer, Elodio Aragon, has written to the PM asking him to rescind the application to own this parcel that is supposed to be designated to the community.
And today when we asked the minister about it, he did not deny, but did refuse to answer, only to say that he has big plans for the village.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health
"I would not respond to this comment, I will not drag myself down into the UDP political mischief, I will just leave it to see what happens when the time comes but just..."
Courtney Menzies:
"Are you planning a residential area?"
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health
"I am not, and as I said, I will not respond on that matter, let us wait what will develop in the Carmelita area then we can talk."
