Disarray continues to prevail in the Belmopan City Council - with one councilor saying he's the acting mayor by decree of the mayor, and the other saying he's acting mayor by order of the Ministry of Local Government.
So, no one knows who is in charge - but what the voting public does know is that it's PUP versus PUP - and nobody voted for that.
For the PUP, the power struggle with Mayor Sheran Palacio has been a steadily escalating public relations disaster. Today we asked the Prime Minister how it came to this: He basically said: her fault:

"It is unfortunate that the mayor has decided to go public knowing full well what she has done is really against the laws of the Belize city council and the minister was simply following the law and quoted and cited the area of the laws why is it that she had the authority to just name anybody as deputy mayor."

Mayor Palacio remains in Dubai and the acting mayorship remains in doubt.
