In other political news, after giving the PUP fits for the last three years, Mayor Sheran Palacio is making them miserable once more before she demits office.
In a bold final stand, she yesterday issued a stop order to "Fast Construction and Road Development" - the contractor hired by the area representative to merge city streets unto George Price Boulevard.
In doing this, she is prompted and supported by the former PUP Mayor who opened the boulevard and points out that Belmopan laws prohibit such roadworks without public consultation.
The document orders the contractor to "Cease and Desist from the installation of concrete culverts and concrete headwalls within Maya Site of the Piccini Subdivision."
It instructs them to "Cease and Desist" from any further work of installing concrete culverts and concrete headwalls until this breach can be remedied." End quote.
We understand work did indeed stop today. We'll see where it goes next.
