As we've been reporting, the NTUCB has called out the Social Security Board of Directors for not respecting the union's role on that board.
In a letter dated to the SSB chairman Nigeli Sosa, the NTUCB highlighted a number of concerns.
The NTUCB called for proper dialogue between both parties in order to correct what they feel is a fundamental disrespect.
The chairman responded and rejected the NTUCB narrative. We asked the CEO about this today and she says they follow guidelines:
Deborah Ruiz, CEO SSB

"Well, did you see the Chairman's response? Well, I think the letters are clear. I don't know what else to say. That's their perspective. We follow the guidelines as to how matters are able before the board and the board in their wisdom as a unit cost their vote. They are given the opportunity and majority regulations decide on a vote."

"Do you think that may have signaled that there was some underlying turbulence within the relationship between the union and SSB?"
Deborah Ruiz, CEO SSB
"I have never seen that. Our board has worked particularly well together, so no I don't know. So that is a matter that we have an open board and I am sure the letter will be discussed further."
