And tonight, former Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa is expressing vindication after being struck out as a defendant in the case. Today we spoke with Musa who told us how he now feels:
Kareem Musa, Minister of Immigration, Labour, Local Government
"It was a very comprehensive, sound decision by the learned justice this morning as you heard and on multiple other grounds that were considered, the proper party whenever you're taking an action against the government of Belize would be the attorney general. As you know in this particular instance, whether it is just through fantasy, invention or what have you there was an attempt to sensationalize by not just including me in my office position as Minister of Home Affairs but also by naming me which is something that is roundly rejected this morning that's not the proper way to do it and so the case against the attorney general and I believe some of the other officers will continue."
"This is a well-established principle in law. And so I was quite surprised from the very outset why they would have included me. But like I mentioned, it was a failed attempt at fantasy, a failed attempt at bringing inventions to the Honorable Court. And like I mentioned, it was rightly dismissed this morning. But again, it's a serious case, as the judge mentioned. Serious potential constitutional rights were breached, and so those matters must continue."
