In other news, we go back to Tuesday's historic Senate walkout. It is the first time in the 25 years of having independent senators that they walked out in protest.
They did so along with the UDP member in opposition to the BTL decision to acquire Speednet.
Today we asked the leader of opposition business Patrick Faber about their walkout and the message behind it:

Patrick Faber, UDP Senator
"Absolutely I stand by that what was attempted to be done there was that we were to conduct the business as normal and I am not discounting the importance of any of what was going on in that CARICOM freedom of movement bill in fact that we were about to debate is very very important and at some point in this week we still intend to get out our points on that. We had just concluded that information session with the deputy director general of foreign trade and we made many concerns about that bill so that business was important but I think we would have missed an opportunity to send the alarm, sound the alarm and send the signal loud and clear that what was happening in the board room at BTL was much more important and that the government and the leadership and BTL were trying to hoodwink the Belizean people into a deal that all of us understand by now, it is not the UDP it is not only the independent senators the business community the church everybody, everybody in this country pretty much has sounded the alarm that we don't want this deal without the proper processes for accountability being followed and they were trying to push that down."
