Tonight, BTL's decision to acquire Speednet continues to dominate the public narrative, with the social partners, the opposition, and many Belizeans criticizing the move. And with all this emphasis on the most pressing issue in the news right now, what does the Prime Minister have to say about it?

Well, that's what we wanted to find out, so we went to Orange Walk this morning where the PM had a scheduled lunch session with the Miss Earth Belize delegates at Maracas Bar & Grill. We tried to speak with him before he entered the restaurant, but he only said four words to us: "Welcome to Orange Walk."

Then we waited as he spent 2 hours dining with the delegates. As he came out of the restaurant, we approached him again to try and ask him about the acquisition of Speednet—a company partly owned by his family. This time, he had no words for us—even though we asked for at least 5 minutes—but he still stopped to speak with another of the delegates before driving off in a Toyota Tacoma.
