In cycling news, there is a new national road champion. It is a prestigious title, and a difficult race. For the seniors, they had to race from Silk Grass on the Southern Highway to Belize City, while the juniors started in St. Margaret’s Village on the Hummingbird Highway; the women started from the Blue Hole also on the Hummingbird. For the juniors, 2 hours 59 minutes after he started, Ernest Wade from Team Indeco rolled in to the finish line in front of Leslie’s Imports on the Northern Highway. He came in together with his team-mate David

Henderson. He told us that it was a tough race.

“Very hard training, a lot of miles, lot of intervals.”

“It feels really good. It really kind of touch my heart being the road champion for my country. It really means a lot being the road champion.”

“What does this mean for the preparation of the big Cross Country Cycling Classic?

Greg Lovell,
“It means a lot. Coming towards Cross Country or the start of Cross Country, I will represent as the national road champ for my country and that really means a lot. Like how I’ll have the national jersey I cannot let down my country, I have to try real hard. Even if I am at the back I will have to finish the race and do my best.”

Shalini Zabaneh won the women’s race; she came in 5 minutes ahead of the second place finisher. Mateo Cruz won the Masters event.
