And even if it doesn’t develop into a tropical depression, the Weather Bureau says you need to be prepared because the second depression will bring more rain and quite possibly flash floods. Gonguez told us who should prepare to evacuate.

Dennis Gonguez,
“We are looking at localized flooding throughout the country, not that whole widespread flooding we had with Tropical Storm Arthur.”

Keith Swift,
Break it down for us, localized flooding in terms of where?

Dennis Gonguez,
“Like low lying areas, like parts of Belize City for example and other low lying areas around the country.”

Keith Swift,
Viewers at home, what is the best advice you can give them?

Dennis Gonguez,
“Keep a watchful eye, keep alert, and be prepared for when the order

is given that this system has developed and it poses a threat. We should be ready to evacuate or move to higher grounds.”

Keith Swift,
Where will the rainfall be concentrated?

Dennis Gonguez,
“Even if it doesn’t develop into a depression it could still bring some significant amounts of rainfall come Sunday so we can still look out for rains around the country on Sunday night.”

Keith Swift,
So people in Hope Creek and Sittee River should do what?

Dennis Gonguez,
“This second event could actually be the event that pushes it overboard. We’ve had this amount of rainfall from this first system, quite possibly the second system could be the one that causes the flooding.”

Keith Swift,
So these people need to start thinking about the possibility of evacuating?

Dennis Gonguez,
“Right that is exactly it because like I told you, this first system might not be the one that causes the flood but the second one pushes it over the limit and causes the flood on Sunday so we need to look out for this second system.”

We’ll continue to monitor the system’s development.
