And while government is busy re-profiling what should have been Jeff Prosser's debt, 7NEWS has been reliably informed that Prosser's lead legal eagle, Washington Attorney and former White House Counsel during the Lewinsky scandal in the Clinton administration, Lani Davis was in Belize yesterday. According to our reports, he came to tell the government that the ICC group remains very displeased with how things went down, and is determined to set it straight even if it means embarrassing Belize internationally.
As we have reported, when government ousted Prosser, it left the American business man with the double misfortune of being stuck with minority shares in a company he no longer controls, and owning the Intelco debt, to a combined total cost of a US$59 million. Government has washed his hands of the Intelco situation, saying it was Prosser's decision to purchase that particular dead horse. Best reports to us suggest that the Royal Bank or Trinidad and Tobago set up an $80 million deal so that Prosser would buy over the Intelco bad debt for US$26 million, and for that good turn the bank would lend him $53 million to buy over BTL. But our sources say, the deal collapsed after Prosser took over the Intelco debt.
