In December of 2003 Dan Marcus I stepped out from the shadow of the 'Heights A Vibe'music outfit with an upstart answer to Tanya Stephens on 'Its not a pity.'The reggae sing-jay is now trying to parlay that fame and name recognition into solo success. On Friday Dan Marcus released his solo debut 'Royal Rebel,'and the next night he was on stage singing alongside Tanya Stephens before a sellout crowd at the City Center. That's quite a boost for a local vocal and he means to build on the momentum. He today told us about his new release where he wrote and produced all 17 tracks including penning the killer line: "sipping on champagne while the country goes down the drain" he told us where he gets his inspiration.
Dan Marcus I,
"The new CD is a product of my hard work and just many nights when I am in the studio laying down tracks and trying to perfect my skills and try to develop a way how to reach out to the youths in Belize. This is like fulfillment to me. Like I am telling my youths, when this CD came out I feel like a baby born. I feel like my offspring born in the sense that the vibes which I am pushing out, the seed which we are planted are becoming a fruit. I feel very proud of myself."
Keith Swift,
Its called Royal Rebel, why that name?

Dan Marcus I,
"That explains me. In spirituality, it is like a level of royalty I see with me and my music because we as black people are kings and I see myself as a royal prince. I see myself as royalty and with all the tribulations I feel, I face, and I am going through I am a rebel so hence 'royal rebel.'"
Keith Swift,
Who is this album for? Does it cater to the streets or does it cater mainstream society?
Dan Marcus I,
"Well I will say this cater to life anybody who can relate to life because I am just speaking about what is happening around me, that is life. Whether it may be what some people call negative but even life itself is based on negative and positive. You just have to know what to take out, everything is based that way."
The CD is available at Record Shack and Stone Jam Music outlets for a suggested retail price of $20. The CD was recorded and mastered at the Heights of Vibes Recording Studio in Belize City.
