A post mortem has confirmed that Leslie Rogers Jr. was shot once to the head. The police forensic examination showed that the gunshot wound was consistent with him being shot from a distance of about 10 feet. He also had injuries to his face and hands consistent with a fall sometime before his death. It's an important determination, because some street accounts had stated that he was shot to the back.

According to police, the 21 year old pulled a gun when police chased him unto Euphrates Avenue on Saturday night, and that's when constable Aldo Ayuso pulled his 9 millimeter pistol, supposedly in defense, and shot Rogers to the center of his forehead. Police say they found him with a 9 millimeter Ruger pistol with 14 shots in the clip and one in the chamber.

And while that's the official version, eyewitnesses in the area say that the young man had no weapon, and Ayuso and his team shot him, then returned in a few minutes with a gun which they planted on him. The Police Department has promised a full investigation, but yesterday Commissioner Jose Carmen Zetina told us that he had not yet heard or seen any account which would change him from the thinking that Ayuso was just doing his job and doing it competently.
