And while the bank was giving way they may be getting a big deposit soon. That's because this morning a Belize City resident went to the LOTTO office on Queen Street to collect one heck of an Easter basket. John Corrie went in to cash in a ticket valued at $80,000. He told us he's been faithful to 5 numbers for the last 6 years and now his payday has finally come.
John Corrie, LOTTO Winner
"I've been doing the same numbers for six years."
Alfonso Noble,
So this is a big payoff for you?
John Corrie,
"Yes not bad. It will pay for the house."
Alfonso Noble,
So that's your only plan for the money?
John Corrie,
"And send my daughter to sixth form."
Alfonso Noble,
How you feel that you won?
John Corrie,
"Its alright."
Alfonso Noble,
Will you keep buying the same numbers again?
John Corrie,
"Yes."
Alfonso Noble,
So you think you might get a second chance at this?
John Corrie,
"I don't know. It is just a pastime."
Alfonso Noble,
Originally how did you come up with those 5 numbers?
John Corrie,
"It was originally a quick pick and I just kept on."
Alfonso Noble,
"After 6 years do you think it is just luck or?
John Corrie,
"I've had 4 numbers or 3 numbers and 4 numbers and we always say next time and next time."
After taxes Corrie takes home $68,000. Noteworthy is that he also won three numbers and a free ticket to the same draw.
