George Meerabux Loses at Privy Council

Disgraced former Puisne Judge of the Belize Supreme Court George Meerabux has exhausted his appeals.

Yesterday, the Privy Council in London dismissed his appeal. 5 lords of the judicial committee upheld the judgements of the Belize Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. They found no merit in the arguments presented by Meerabux's British Attorneys who claimed that Meerabux should have had a public hearing, and that a member of the Belize Advisory Council which removed the judge, was also a members of the bar, which had filed the complaint. With this the Meerabux matter seems to be settled as no higher appeal can be sought.
