Drowned Teen's Body Recovered

Police today confirmed that the body of 16-year-old Leroy Sandoval has been recovered from the Belize Old River where he drowned two days ago. Reports to our newsroom last night were that the body of the drowned teen was seen floating in the river shortly after 6. Residents in the area pulled it onshore and that is where it stayed until after 9 this morning when police returned to the scene. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, an onsite post mortem was scheduled and those results are pending.

Leroy Sandoval went swimming in the Belize Old River Tuesday morning with friends when he went missing. Police spent two days searching for his body. The 16 year old was a second form student at St. Michael's College.
