The Stevedores appeared today on Sunup to speak in their own defence.

They say they've been sidelined with their incomes slashed all because big sugar wanted the type of workers who can't even whisper about unionizing. Here's how the CWU's General Secretary broke down the potential effects of the decision on this morning's SunUp on 7.

Floyd Neal, General Secretary CWU
"The crux of the matter is that BSi ASR has taken their sugar from the Belize CIty port to the Port of Big Creek which is contrary to the memorandum of understanding signed between the owners and operators of big Creek and the government of Belize which prevents sugar going from big creek and the impact of that, it's a devastating impact not just for stevedores and their families and the other people who depend on the income they earn working sugar but the entire southside Belize. So it will be a devastating loss. Not just to PBL because they are losing but it will be immediately so for immediately the Stevedores, their dependents and southside Belize."

Tune in to SunUp on 7 tomorrow when we'll have the Minister of Health, and the author of a major political biography of two term Prime Minister Manuel Esquivel.
