And while it was tense in Cayo - just up the road in the village of Succotz - there was total calm and good vibes as the BTB groundbreaking team rolled into the village on the banks of the Mopan River.
With Xunatunich as its claim to fame - the village is in line to get some new pieces to add to its tourism kit. Here's more:
Another day, another groundbreaking for the BTB - where apparently the spigots of cash runneth over. Today it was in San Jose Succtoz where they will get a multipurpose bridge and a community centre.

"And the funding?"
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism

"Most of it is coming from the Belize Tourism Board through a developmental bond that we floated maybe about six months ago. And so now the projects are rolling out."
Rolling into Succotz with full silly season cosplay getups. And though they donned hardhats reflective vests - there was no ground to break, just the intoxicating air of promise to breathe:
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism
"And we believe that this project here as a multi purpose cultural center will help to compliment what we have into Xunantunich and to attract people here in this area as well that they can feel and experience the living culture that we have here."
We didn't see the elected village chairlady at the front table - though we did spot a grizzled - if not grayed - former representative Amin Hegar profiling like it was 1997 all over again.
The current area rep sang endless praise for the nightly Minister of Tourism - and his bond bag:

"And thankfully for the minister of tourism putting his heart and soul into this constituency, I could never and will never forget the assistance that Minister Mahler has brought to us. Without his support it will never be a project in reality."
True allies but the monied Minister has many of them as he has shown in the run-up to this municipal elections.
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism
"We have projects in San Pedro, we have projects im Caye Caulker, we have projects in Punta Gorda Town, we have projects in the Toledo District, we have projects in Corozal, we have projects in Orange Walk. So all across the country we are doing these infrastructural enhancements to ensure that the infrastructure is improved as we go along."
The BTB's 54 million dollar bond is targeted for Investment in Industry support and Recovery, and Investment in Product Development, and Marketing.
