After an unknown quantity of fake Tylenol infiltrated pharmacies across Belize in October of 2023, it created quite a stir in the community - basically because the public wants to know how fake drugs can make it to store shelves.

4 months have gone by since the news of the fake tylenol hit the market without any clear finding. The PSU President has said that the ministry has been dragging its feet in the investigations.

Well, the Minister of health didn't want to hear that today:

Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness
"I can't say how the PSU president can say such things. Is he the director of inspection? I don't think so, he has lost his place. And I will say this to him how can he undermine his own public servants who are doing an arduous job in making sure we find these things and the culprits. Some of these things are done through the contraband we don't have the necessary human resources to fill every area but when we catch these individuals we deal with them. The recent ruling in Orange walk by the court we were able to seize almost 900k worth of falsified medication. Some of them are not wrong medication some of them are because they are bringing it through contraband means and so that shows the level of commitment that the drug inspectorate unit has been doing we are on the ground making sure that we are able to address these issues and we make that call again to those who are doing that we will apply the full law to those who are guilty."
