A Woman's Lifeless Body Is Found At Golden Star Motel

At 9:30 this morning police were called out to New Road at the Golden Star Motel where they found the lifeless body of 47 year old Joanne Arana lying in bed. According to Mr. Alberto Aguillar, the proprietor of the hotel, Arana, who is from Dangriga, was a regular who was known to frequent Belize City. According to Aguillar, late last night Arana had an unfamiliar male visitor; however, at no time during the night was there any strange noises or sounds coming from her room. Aguillar said that this morning at about 9:00 a.m. he went around to do his pre-checkout rounds and found her room door open with her motion-less body lying naked on the bed. Police report that there were no signs of forced entry and that it was not a case of robbery as all her jewelry and money was intact. But while there were no signs of foul play it is still being treated as a homicide until the cause of death has been confirmed.
