He's one of Belize City's most notorious underworld figures, and when a big catch of drugs and weapons was made inside a house that Brain Brown was alleged to have been renting, police thought they'd put him away for a while. But the police's case crumbled today on a small oversight. Last week Brown appeared before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers to answer to charges of possession of prohibited firearm, possession of controlled drugs, drug trafficking, and possession of un-licensed firearm. The charges arose after police conducted a search at a house on J.C. Street off Jane Usher Boulevard on December 28th. Police found an assortment of illegal items including an a-k 47, crack cocaine, bullet proof vests, masks, and weed. But Brown wasn't there and his attorney, Ellis Arnold made a no case submission claiming that he had not been effectively linked to the home. Arnold saw that opening after the owner of the house, Lloyd Carr also known as Dr. Lloyd told the court that when Brown paid him 150 dollars for the house he told him that he was doing this for someone else. With that Magistrate Dorothy Flowers upheld Ellis' submission and told Brown he was free to go. In related news, Brown's little brother, along with a posse of about 15 young men from the George Street Crew are in Belmopan lock-down tonight. Police reportedly intercepted them in a convoy of four cars heading for a funeral in Cayo. Fearing a show-down of some kind, they have detained the group of 15 in Belmopan.
