He was known as a warrior on the streets and lived true to its code, but police believe that Elvis Rosado put an end to his own life this morning on Turneffe Island. Rosado gained notoriety when he was charged along with 4 others for the murder of Chinese grocer Li Rong Kong in 1998. In that event the killer jumped over the counter of his Jasmine Street store, shot Rong Kong, and injured his wife with a shotgun blast. Rosado and all the others were eventually acquitted of that charge. From there his name slipped from the headlines, until this morning, when he was found dead on Turneffe Island with a.38 revolver lying beside him. His body was brought into Belize City this afternoon where a post mortem will be conducted. So far details are sketchy, and even though the scene of death points to suicide, police are treating it as a homicide if, and until, the investigation proves otherwise.
