Dead Body Found in Benque

Police suspect foul play after the discovery of human remains in Western Belize this morning.

At around 8 this morning, Benque Viejo police were called out to an area near the border with Belize and Guatemala where they found what appears to be human remains. The bones were found on a small picado road near the old Benque Viejo dumpsite. It's a road that is often used for illegal border crossings and it leads from Suchitan in Melchor de Mencos into Belizean territory.

There was no identification found in the area but police suspect that the bones are a female's because of the clothing in the area and other personal effects that were found in a knapsack nearby. Police also found a set of keys and a Guatemalan passport in the area.
