15 volleyball players and coaches were today certified for having completed an 11 day intensive "level one" coaching seminar. What does level one mean? Coach Trainer Raul Erisaga explains what the coaches learnt.
Raul Erisaga, Trainer
"This was an international coaches course for players, teachers, and coaches who want to work in the family of volleyball at the international level. The coaches worked very hard. We had ten days of hard work and I am very happy to work with the coaches from Belize. They learnt fundamental techniques, the physical condition, some topics like rules on injuries, first aid, and practical preparation."
Oscar Arnold, Belize Volleyball Association
"Its very important because we've had some success in the past at the international level especially regionally in Central America and we are now trying to develop that program to have consistent successful games throughout the region. To do this we have to build from the ground up."
With today's certification there will be enough coaches for a second round of training, this time in a level two coaching course to be held in two or three years' time.
