Belmopan's Weekend without Water

Late this evening running water was restored to the households in Belmopan City who for most of the weekend were without a steady supply of water.

Belize Water Services Limited (BWSL) says heavy rainfall on Friday night and into Saturday washed away sections of their water main. Repair work on Saturday was hampered by more rainfall and so for most of the weekend there was no reliable flow of water to customers. BWSL said they cut the water supply to customers because flash floods contaminated the water at their treatment plant forcing them to reduce plant output.

For most of today residents of Belmopan were again without water until late this evening. A BWSL release says the water supply will be fully restored by Tuesday morning.
