She lived in Belize for 34 years, but on Sunday 73 year old Mary Jane Blondell was brutally murdered near her home on the outskirts of St. Margaret's Village. The partially buried body of Mary Jane Blondell was discovered yesterday morning by police who had responded to her estate after her home was reported to have been burglarized and she was reported missing. Today we traveled to the scene of the crime where suspects led investigators to crucial pieces of evidence. Alfonso Noble reports.

Alfonso Noble Reporting,
On Sunday night the watchman for this property, the Mary Blondell Birdwalk, reported to police that his employer 73 year old Mary Jane Blondell was not at home and the residence had been burglarized. When police responded to the scene they confirmed the watchman's report and began searches for the missing woman.

Dennis Miles, Investigator
“We did a search some two miles away from Mrs. Blondell’s house on a feeder road and we found a green Isuzu vehicle that belonged to Mrs. Blondell and not far away was her body partially buried and there were visible signs of two stab wounds in her neck. We figured that Mrs. Blondell had been kidnapped from her house; they had broken into her house and kidnapped her and probably because she knew who it was they decided to take to her that feeder road and kill her.”

It is in this very shallow grave that sometime around 10 yesterday morning police investigators found the body of Mary Blondell. Now investigators are picking up pieces of evidence for their case.

Dennis Miles,
“Presently we have two suspects in custody. On one of the suspects when we searched him we found some of Mrs. Blondell’s personal items in his pocket. So far after interviewing both of them they are cooperating with the police.”

That cooperation led investigators to Blondell's vast property where after trekking through the surrounding jungle for hours police recovered a number of items at various locations. Police believe these are items that had been taken from Blondell's house.

Dennis Miles,
“The suspects that we have in custody led us to the recovery of all Mrs. Blondell’s items that were stolen out of her house.”

Alfonso Noble,
What kind of items are we looking at?

Dennis Miles,
“We are looking at a laptop computer, battery chargers, transmitting radios, and telephones and a walkman and some other personal items.”

Police are also adding the murder weapon, this knife, to the evidence gathered and with these mounting pieces Miles believes the investigation is near with an arrest soon to come.

Dennis Miles,
“We are doing a good investigation and hopefully at the end of the day we guarantee a conviction.”

The two men will be charged tomorrow for burglary and murder.
