On the 30th July Anti-Drug unit personnel captured 32 bales of cocaine off a Beechcraft twin engine airplane that crash-landed in a cane field in the outskirts of the Northern Village of San Lazaro. Today the 702.5 kilos of cocaine worth some US$40 million went up in smoke. Under armed security the drugs were tested and destroyed at an incinerator in the Cayo district. While the bust was major for Belize's authorities, no one was arrested for brining in the cargo.
